After a few years in practice, and doing many pairs of orthotics, I performed a gait analysis on my Dad one holiday when I was home and cast him for a pair of orthotics.  I sent them to him after they arrived and forgot all about it.  A couple of weeks later I got a call from him at my office.  This was the first time (and so far only time) he had called me at work, so I was a bit concerned that there was an emergency at home when I returned his call.  My Dad had called to thank me for the orthotics because they made his feet and his back feel so much better.  Then he spent five minutes letting me know that I should have let him know years before that orthotics would help him.
